Welcome to Japan Class

We are a Key Stage 4 Discoverer Class. Our learners access all subjects across the cirriculum including English (reading, writing and phonics), Maths, Science, PE, PSHE, Careers, Religion and World Views, Computing, Art, DT, Geography, History and Music. Learners also benefit from weekly swimming sessions in the school hydrotherapy pool and on alternate half terms they access weekly Forest School and Food Technology sessions. We encourage the learners to engage in the curriculum through real life learning opportunities, we use an experiential approach to make learning purposeful with a clear structure and routine which is supported by our Total Communication environment. We provide a safe and stimulating learning environment for the individuals to thrive in and believe every minute of the day can be a learning opportunity and continuously set high expectations. We value the importance of regular well-being check-ins throughout the day and encourage the learners to use an appropriate strategy to self-regulate and communicate to a familiar adult if they need to. We are an active and play-based learning class where we draw on early learning experiences to enrich our broad and balanced curriculum. We demonstrate pride in our work and can't wait to show you all the things we get up to over the year.
